Inside this issue: Adding Music:
Hi
Welcome back! Today we’ll be dealing with bringing your act up a notch by adding music and audio effects.
Before we do, here are a few important announcements…
This Thursday night at 10:00 p.m. eastern, we will be gathering again for an incredible webinar featuring copywriting design techniques.
My friend, Mike Capuzzi, creator of Copy-Doodles, will be conducting a special workshop for us on how to make our sales letters and web-sites more powerful.
This is NOT going to be the same as the last one we did!
The “Doodles” for magicians are ready and we will be showing you actual examples from my pieces as well as other magicians that are getting killer results from these techniques.
Believe me, you can double and triple your response with these strategies and you don’t want to miss it.
I will be sending a special invite along shortly.
A few other dates for you to reserve:
Wed., Dec. 5 – TBA (just waiting on the confirm) Wed., Dec. 12 – Jack Turk! Wed., Dec. 26 – Mastermind Call - http://www.moremoneywithmagic.com/membership.htm
All the calls are fr*e-e and start at 10:00 p.m. eastern, promptly. Stay tuned for all the details.
Now off to today’s session…
This is a re-print from, “The Successful Family Entertainer – Vol. 1”. http://www.moremoneywithmagic.com/book.htm
Since it’s publication, I have upgraded to an Anchor Liberty for larger shows. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Bringing your show to the next level!
Music adds a completely different aspect to our shows. We can set the pace, the tempo and the mood all by our choice of music. There are many different ways to handle this and it is very personal for each performer and act. A good tip is to use music you like; you’ll be hearing it a lot!
My current 45-minute family show has 28 different sound cues. I use walk-on and walk-off music. Music plays before and after the show. And I also use sound effects to enhance the routines . I use the Majiloon system to control everything from the stage. It has an ankle switch attachment to turn it on and off and you can switch tracks and control the volume from a little beeper-like devise.
Kerry Pollack’s Show-Tech System is also very, very good. I have friends that swear by it and you should check it out. I will certainly not get into the heated debate that went on in Genii Magazine awhile back.
Whatever system you use, having personal control over my sound has been key for me. I am so much more relaxed because I know my music will be there. I have worked with way too many sound techs to be able to count on them. Not that they’re bad, but that’s a lot of cues to keep up with. Especially if it’s only the first or second time you’ve seen the act. You really can’t blame them.
The nice thing about these systems is they can be
patched into any system you use. I carry around a bunch of different adapters that will fit anywhere. Of course, it works on my sound systems too. I use the Anchor Mini-Vox (up to 75 people), the Anchor AN-1000 (up to 250) and the Fender 150 Passport (up to 1,000). Anymore than that and I have the sponsor provide the system.
Even if you don’t want to fork out the money for one of these high-tech systems, I recommend at least getting a portable CD player with a remote that you can put on your table or in your pocket. Music makes a huge difference and will set you apart from the rest.
The more professional you are. The more money you’ll be able to command. Music plays a large part in the audience’s and the booker’s perception of you. Make it a good choice, it’s worth it!
Yours in success,
Eric Paul
