I love my job!  Getting to go out, have fun, make events

exciting and be compensated accordingly is very rewarding.

 

I had a great weekend here and I thought it would be valuable

to not only tell you what types of gigs I had, but also HOW I

got them.

 

Friday I had two schools shows.  Both in the same school,

back to back.  These came as a direct result of my main school

mailing in September and I expect them to have me back at least

one more time this year.

 

Saturday I did a festival in the afternoon.  This was a repeat

client and someone I stay in touch with throughout the year. 

They, of course, booked because I reminded them to.  They

will have me back next year too.

 

Saturday night I did a very high-profile Bar Mitzvah.  Got

my picture taken with lots of local celebrities and made

some wonderful connections.

 

This came through a new agent that I never even knew

about.  He got my name from another magician friend of

mine (thanks Jim!) and he does just big Bar Mitzvahs.  This

was sort of my “test” night and I floored them.

 

The capper was doing the bill in lemon at the head table while

the agent was watching.  I always save a special trick like this

for the head table and it works like a charm.  I recommend this

technique highly.  The agent booked me for three more parties

immediately that night!

 

Now keep in mind, he is added to my special contact list and

will become a great stream for me.  He is a VIP in my database.

 

Sunday, I did two birthday parties.  I rarely work on

Sundays and I rarely do birthday parties anymore.  But the

kids were off with their Mom and these were two good

potential clients. So, I went to early church service, did 2

gigs and got home in time to see the kids when they got

back.

 

Both of these clients came from the kids having seen me

at their summer camps and they got my info from the magic

wand certificates.

 

Each booking was run completely on the web through my

auto-responders and forms.  It was the easiest and they both

came in over $300 after add-ons and packages.  Definitely

worth doing.

So that made for a fun weekend.  $2,485 in gross

performance fees not to mention the BOR.  That’s for

just three days and I had Friday & Sunday night off. 

You don’t need many of these weekends in a month to

make a good living.

 

The important thing to note here is all of the different

avenues these clients came to me.  If I didn’t have all

of these things running, I wouldn’t get them all. 

 

Tomorrow I’ll share with you what may be the most

important thing I’ve ever tipped on how to do this all and

stay in balance elsewhere in your life.
