Inside This Issue:  How To Get Your Business Cards in Hot

Prospects Hands...

Dear

Only 35 Days Left!!!

This is your countdown to the big Boot-Camp in September!

This is going to be absolutely awesome and you should do

everything you can to make sure you attend.

Jack just dropped the price for a short time and now would be

the time to act!

The dates are September 21-23 in Chicago and I would walk

there if I had to.  I’m not kidding!

And remember, if you sign-up through me, you get an added

bonus of a full hour+ lecture I gave on marketing at a Dan

Kennedy Insider Circle event and all of the hand-outs.  This is

even more complete than “The Anatomy” Series I release

recently and it’s yours, Fr*e*e if you register through me!

Off to the meat…

The Business Card:

A Business card is something I would say that we all have in

common marketing-wise.

It was probably the first thing you invested in when you decided

to do magic for a fee.

They are a “front-line” marketing weapon and should be used

to the fullest.

Here are some tips of what to do and what not to do…

First, what not to do:

I was at a show a few weeks ago and a clown (both literally

and figuratively) showed up, in costume, and handed out her

business cards after my show.

I was honestly in shock that someone would do this.  Now

I’m sure that no one reading this would do something so

strange, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Please, use them wisely.

The big thing I hate to se is the proliferation of the cheap

business cards.  The last seven performers that I’ve met at

events I’ve been at have handed me these incredibly cheap

business cards.

They were either home-made on their computer or one of

those stock ones you can get at an office supply store.

Business cards are so inexpensive now that there is no need

to try and save a buck or two on them.  Our cards leave an

impression on our prospects just like anything else we do

does.

You could have a killer act, a great brochure and drive a

Lexus, but when you hand someone a cheapo business card,

your impression goes way down.

Invest in a quality, full-color card and it will pay for itself

many times over.  You can’t expect to demand high fees if

you don’t create the perception of being a professional and

of a higher quality than the average performer.

This is an easy step we should all take.  I’ve been using

www.gotprint.com for the last two years and am very happy

with them.

Now for a few things we should be doing:

I’ve written about business cards in detail many times before

and I won’t bore you with any repeats here.  You can dig up

your copies of either of my courses for complete ideas and

techniques but here are two more we can use.

1)  Make it double-sided.  I never send out or print anything

one-sided anymore.  It only makes sense to utilize every

possible space to deliver my sales message and I would

recommend you do the same.

Printing on both sides doesn’t cost much more and I have

gotten many, many gigs from doing both.  The front of my

card is all of the typical info along with my picture and on

the their side is a call to action.

Depending on which card (I have different ones for different

markets), the back-side offers a fr*ee report, magic trick or

some other reason to get them to raise their hand and show

interest.

I am always on the look-out for qualified prospects and this

is just yet another weapon in the arsenal.

2)  Another great tool I’ve been using this summer at almost

every show is a lobby board.

I’ve talked about these before but I recently updated mine

and am very happy with the results.

Staples offers a great deal on full-color posters printed on a

Styrofoam type stock.  They look great and are inexpensive

enough to have many of them.

I simply had them blow-up a copy of my standard poster

and I have an arrow pointing to the show.

I made up an identical one with the arrow pointing the

opposite way.  I mounted this to an easel so that it becomes

two-sided.  There are two eye hooks at the bottom of either

side for me to hang and additional sign like show times and

the like.  I simply print these on my computer and laminate

them so they look nice.

The real key to these is that I attach a holder for my business

cards on either side too!

Now I can advertise my show and have folks take my card at

each show without looking over eager.  These have served

me very well and look really professional.

It again, is all part of the “perception” thing.  It sets the stage,

gets people excited about seeing me, adds credibility and gets

my promo materials in prospects hands.  A great tool!

Even better, it all folds up and is carried in the same case I

carry my chair suspension in so I don’t need to add anything

to the load.

I would recommend making up something like this.  I use

them for everything from libraries to festivals, and from

schools to even birthday parties.  Remember, you can

customize part of it for every show and your clients will

really appreciate this extra effort!

That’s it for this week and we’ll see you next.

Yours in success,

Eric Paul
